“mood lighting / intelligent lighting control systems”

Mood lighting is achieved by an intelligent lighting control system, however both terms are often used to describe the same result. A lighting control system provides the ability to adjust various lighting circuits within a living space to generate an atmospheric lighting scene

This effect can also be achieved by rotary wall dimmers, however a lighting scene at its best will utilise multiple lighting circuits thus requiring a number of rotary dimmers. To recreate that relaxing lighting scene you have to remember the various positions of each rotary dimmer, imagine a system that would recall those favourite scenes for you at the press of a single button ... introducing the mood lighting system !

“preset lighting scenes”

In its simplest form this is what a mood lighting system does, it remembers preset lighting scenes for daily tasks such as reading, watching TV, cooking, entertaining etc. However it can go far beyond that,  with many powerful features built into the system, many possibilities are opened up

“whole house off”

Probably the most favoured feature of a whole house lighting control system is the whole house OFF function, whereby the touch of a button all the lights can be turned off either when leaving your home or going to bed. Conversely one button can turn many lights on, did you hear something in the middle of the night? From your bedroom keypad its simple to turn all external front and back lights or indeed all the internal lights.

“pathways of light”

When lighting fixtures are controlled by a central lighting control system we have the ability to create pathways of light around the home, for a example a welcome scene taking you from the front door through to your favoured location to drop off bags, key, phones, etc when returning home. Or perhaps a pathway from the master bedroom to the kitchen at night turned on and off from a bedside keypad. One button anywhere in the house can also turn on all staircase, hallway and landing lighting throughout all floors, not easy with conventional wiring especially if you want dimming capability too.

“holiday/away mode”

The lighting control system has the ability to turn on and off a chosen number of lights at a random time over a selected time period. This creates that all important image of an occupied home, an absolute must for those who travel regularly. Deciding which rooms should be part of your control system is important too for features like this to work well, involving us at an early stage in the design process pays dividends to achieve the most out of a system

“astronomical timeclock”

A technical term, but it simply means the lighting control system knows what time of day it is and the timings for sunrise and sunset every day. This enables automatic lighting scenes.. For example .. porch lights turn on 1/2hr before sunset and turn off at 11:30pm each day, without the need for you to remember. Don't worry, we will provide a manual button, for when the party finishes a little later ! .. Daylight saving? no problem it knows that too

“garden lighting”

A great way of controlling you garden lighting from anywhere within the home, we have even created sequences to highlight various features around the garden with a very slow fade between areas to give your garden a whole new dynamic. If electric gates are installed we can use the "gates open" signal to tell the lighting control system to turn on the driveway lights to welcome you home

“electric blinds and curtain track control ”

We can also take control of your electrically operated blinds and curtains. Better still we will add them to away mode, we can preset all blinds and curtains to open and close over perhaps a 2 hour period based on sunset and sunrise timings, this feature really does enhance the security of a home when unattended

“3rd party control ”

Many 3rd party devices can be added to the system too, to simplify operation, such as waterfalls/fountains/pumps, jacuzzi pumps and lighting, underwater swimming pool lighting, smart glass, heated glass. Infact we can integrate most devices that require either mains or low voltage power

Mood lighting and lighting control are intrinsically linked … neither can excel without the other
